Luxury Resort Review: Peppers Salt Resort & Spa, Kingscliff, NSW

By:

This is a luxury resort in a great location, with impressive leisure facilities for your next weekend or romantic getaway, and Peppers Salt Resort & Spa, Kingscliff, is an iconic property which delivers on many levels.

  • Location: Kingscliff, in the NSW Northern Rivers region.
  • Accommodations: The resort has two sections: Hotel Rooms and Suites, and separate Bale accommodation. The Hotel Rooms come in two types, one with access to a shared plunge pool, while Suite options range from One to Three Bedrooms, some with spas, some with access to plunge pools, and all with kitchen facilities. Bale accommodations occupy one wing of the resort and are a little different. Featuring their own private entrance, these One, Two and Three Bedroom Apartments and Penthouses are incredibly spacious and offer more exclusivity including use of a separate lap pool. Wherever you stay, the accommodation at Peppers Salt Resort & Spa is modern, contemporary and furnished with the surrounding environment in mind. You are also close to the resort pools and only a short stroll away from Salt Beach.
  • Dining options: There is a high end on-site restaurant, called Season, which offers a seasonal menu dedicated to fresh, local produce. Season’s meat, for example, includes pork from the quaint village of Bangalow and hormone-free chicken from Alstonville. This is also where you will have breakfast if it’s included in your room rate, and it’s the venue for the Long Lunch held every Saturday. There is a Tapas Bar open from 5pm until late.
  • What else is there: The resort has everything you could possibly want for a long weekend, or a romantic getaway, including the Spa At Salt, which has 16 treatment rooms and a menu of massage and beauty treatments for both sexes including facials, body wraps, Vichy Showers, polishes and hydro baths. It also has a lovely, spacious Tranquility Lounge in which to relax, along with a complimentary steam room and spa bath. Additional facilities at the resort include grass tennis courts, bike hire, and a large lagoon style pool.
  • What’s nearby: Just a short walk away is Kingscliff with shopping, cafes and restaurants. There are two 18-hole golf courses nearby, and reception can arrange for you to try your hand at stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkelling, scuba diving or deep-sea fishing. For gourmands, food and wine tasting is also on offer at Mount Tamborine. And, of course, you are on the beach.
  • Why go: Peppers Salt Resort & Spa, Kingscliff, is a fully self contained beachfront resort with everything, including spacious and contemporary accomodations and plenty of activities. The hard part will be deciding what to do, especially if you are only staying for a short time.

The Space

Kingscliff is a great weekend or romantic getaway spot at any time of year. It has a lot on offer for a short break, from great places to eat and drink, the gorgeous Salt Beach, and plenty of outdoor activities. And there are stylish places hang your hat, of course, including Peppers Salt Resort & Spa, Kingscliff. This was the second time we’d stayed there, and our friends, who were new to the resort, were impressed. The beachfront location is one thing, also proximity to the village which makes an evening exploration even in winter viable. And it has a nice spread of accommodations and options depending on your needs and budget.

Where We Stayed

Our home for a long winter weekend was a Two Bedroom Spa Suite with hinterland views; we were sharing it with another couple to celebrate a big birthday. The suite was a dual key room sharing a common foyer entrance with a One Bedroom Spa Suite and Hotel Room, which was ideal as both couples had a bathroom each, one featuring a decent sized spa bath, as well as a private balcony, a designer kitchen, and full laundry facilities if needed. The bedding was also flexible; the Spa Suite had a king bed, while the Hotel Room had a king zip-bed which can be arranged into twin single beds if you are travelling with kids or friends. Other perks included in-house movies, Wi-Fi, cable TV with Foxtel, a docking station, a mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities. The decor was simple and clean with neutral colours and splashes of red, and the furnishings were luxurious with good use of plush fabrics. Overall it was spacious, and extremely comfortable for two couples to share and enjoy for a celebration without being cramped.

UltimateTravelMagazine.com Loves

  • The location, which is on Salt Beach and only a short walk to the village if you fancy a change of scene.
  • The spacious apartments and the good sized spa.
  • The large lagoon pool which was warm enough to use during the day in winter.

Insider Tips

  • The breakfast is well worth getting up for if it’s included in your room rate, and you can order cocktails pool side if the weather is nice enough.

Best Place To Stay 5 Star Review

Have been to Kingscliffe from the southern Gold Coast on a bit of a road trip a few years ago and we loved it! We didn't stay here but it looks perfect for a romantic weekend away. When we were there we did the walk to Salt Beach and back. We did one way via the beach and the other via the path. It takes less than an hour and is so much fun! I can also recommend the surf club which has great views from the balcony and on a Sunday they have a band playing. The food is good as well!

    Lovely Resort 5 Star Review

Living in Brisbane this is a great weekender when I don't want to travel far, and want an easy-going resort on a beach with everything at your doorstep. Go for the spa suites, they're great!

    Great Surf 5 Star Review

One of my favourite places to go for a weekend to get away from the Gold Coast. Great surf, lots of top cafes and the resort is lovely.

Wedding Anniversary Bliss 4 Star Review

We came here for a wedding anniversary long weekend last year and loved it. Our spa suite was super comfy and the staff were great. I marked it down by a star as it was busy with kids, but we knew it was a family friendly resort when we booked so that's not their fault. Love Kingscliff too very pretty place with lots to do.

    Stunning Place 5 Star Review

This is a truly beautiful part of northern NSW, much less busy and trendy as Byron and with more to offer I believe. Peppers has a stunning location and such a range of accommodation it suits everyone from families and friends to those romantics looking to get away from it all. The beach is also gorgeous. My favourite cafe in Kingscliff is Mockingbird which is on the beachfront and uses fresh, local produce....including ethical meats and eggs. They even grow their own veggies and have a native bee hive!
