  • Why buy: It has no flavour, and helps to boost your skin, hair, nails and more.
  • The Details: Vida Glow Marine Collagen Powder Unflavoured costs rrp $59.95 for 90g, and is available from www.vidaglow.com.

Road Test

Say the word “collagen” and you’d be forgiven for thinking immediately of painful injectables, but in fact it’s a naturally occurring substance in our bodies, and also which is found today in a number of natural skin care products. Collagen is a protein which helps make our skin plump, taut and strong, and it’s the second most abundant substance in our bodies after water. However as we age our collagen levels start to decline; once you hit your 50s you’ll have lost around half of the collagen in your body, leading to wrinkles and saggy skin, thinner hair and less strong nails. That’s where collagen-rich skin care, and a supplement, can help to keep your skin healthy and looking at its best, and when it comes to supplements it’s hard to beat marine collagen like Vida Glow’s Marine Collagen Powder. The original, unflavoured Vida Glow powder is an all-natural and pure marine collagen derived from the scales of deep sea red snapper, and one of the great things about it is that it the most convenient to include into your daily diet - which makes it super easy for travellers. You can stir into virtually any food or drinks, adding it to coffee, tea, juice or water, and there are great benefits beside convenience, which can include a more youthful looking skin, an improvement in fine lines and wrinkles, thicker hair and stronger nails. I was sent a tub of the powder to road test and took it every day for a month - the 90g tub has 30 servings. Mostly I added a serve to a healthy smoothie each morning; the tub comes with a nifty scoop to measure out and deliver the right amount, with one serving size being two-thirds of the scoop. Although I only used it once a day for a natural boost, you can take up to three servings a day if your body really needs help, especially anyone with skin issues, very fine hair, a dull complexion or brittle nails. What I noticed quite quickly, after only a couple of weeks, is that my skin looked more plump and hydrated, and my nails were breaking less. And there’s another bonus for anyone who needs it; the powder is also great for helping muscle repair and recovery, and it strengthens connective tissues including cartilage.

    Sounds Good 4 Star Review

I was only reading about marine collagen a few weeks ago but I wonder is there any problem if you have allergies to fish and seafood?
