Ah holidays: long "trawl" flights travelling by plane; long days on the beach soaking up the sun’s rays; late nights eating out and drinking; and partying untill all hours. Sound like you? Most of us enjoy letting our hair down on holiday, and being off schedule, but there’s no getting away from the fact that travel, and fun in the sun, can take its toll on your skin. But the quality-yet-affordable beauty brand, Skinstitut, has an impressive lineup of products which can take the sting out of it. I’ll be reviewing a number of them over the coming weeks, but kicking things off are Multi-Active Mist and Laser Aid. Multi-Active Mist is not only ideal for ageing skin, but it also works a treat if your skin is sensitive or dehydrated, which can befall many women in the air, or if you spend a lot of time outside in the elements. This lovely mist deeply hydrates the skin, as well as reduces irritation; key ingredients in the formula include vitamin B3, ginseng, green tea, and liquorice root. Although you need to avoid the eye area, just spritz your face with this several times a day, including during a long haul flight, or after a day at the beach, to see what a difference it makes.

The second product, Laser Aid, really is multi-tasking, soothing balm ideal for travellers. Described as “first aid in a bottle” it has powerful anti-inflammatory properties which instantly cool hot, reactive or sun exposed skin, also calming itchiness, redness and swelling from insect bites or stings, which can occur in the water or on land. And there’s even more good news where this product is concerned. This fabulous product doubles up as an anti-bacterial facial or body moisturiser, and it can be used by men or women post-shave to soothe the skin. And in a pro tip from Skinstitut, if you have waxed any body areas before heading off on your holiday, if you apply Laser Aid to those areas you’ll reduce the risk of red bumps or lumps appearing, which can happen in warmer weather. All Skinstitut products costs $45 rrp, the Multi-Active Mist coming in a handy 100ml bottle, which is just on the size limit for liquid items to take on board a flight, while the Laser Aid comes in 200ml tube. Available from www.skinstitut.com, and selected clinics and beauty salons nationally.
