  • Dining options: The hotel has a stylish restaurant, Stones Bar and Grill, which is located on the ground floor overlooking the pool, and offers indoor and al fresco breakfast and dinner. Breakfast combines a continental buffet with made-to-order favourites, while in the evening the menu offers fresh-market produce. The Pantry, which is also located on the ground floor, stocks a combination of locally sourced produce and holiday essentials, while the adjacent Terrace Café serves delicious cakes and coffees, as well as meals from breakfast through to dinner. The Lounge Bar is also on the ground floor overlooking the terrace.
  • What else is there: If you have a car, there is onsite undercover parking and smart car power charging stations. Other facilities include a 24-hour arrival desk, a digital concierge for in-room shopping and entertainment, resort style amenities including a 21-metre saltwater lap pool, a children’s water play area, and a gym with a sauna and steam room. There are also daily activities for kids and adults.
  • What’s nearby: The beach is a few minutes walk, and central Surfers Paradise, including its bars, shops and restaurants, is a 10 minute walk. Beyond that, Pacific Fair Shopping Centre and The Star Gold Coast Casino, both located in Broadbeach, are a 10 minute drive by car or a short tram ride, while a lineup of other attractions including Sea World, Movie World, Dream World, and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary are all within easy driving distance.
  • Why go: The Ruby Collection is ideal for anyone who enjoys the option of self-catering on a romantic beach holiday, while also having all the bells and whistles of a top class hotel. It has an ideal location close to the beach and the Surfers Paradise nightlife.

The Space

Stage One of this exciting new Gold Coast development opened its doors at the beginning of November 2018, just in time for summer and the Christmas holidays. A 30-level tower soaring above Surfers Paradise, it’s easy to spot from afar thanks to its bright, nine-metre-high ruby red sign, and besides a great location, guests can enjoy an alluring combination of spacious apartment style accommodations along with views of either the beach, the hinterland, the waterways, or in some cases, all three. Much care has been been taken in the design to combine contemporary style with practicality where the apartments are concerned. What you have at The Ruby Collection is akin to a home-away-from-home, with all the creature comforts included, along with all the pros and perks of a hotel. The ground floor lobby sets the stage for what’s to come; lashings of light coloured marble, comfortable furnishings, and attractive artworks.

Where We Stayed

The Ruby’s 88 one-bedroom apartments are surprisingly spacious, ranging from 54 to 65 metres square, and they’re distributed between levels two and 29. Accommodating a maximum of two guests, they’re ideal for couples on a romantic holiday, and if you request a high floor location, you’ll enjoy views of the Gold Coast which will linger long into the memory. Besides a spacious balcony, which you can use to relax, savour the views, or enjoy a casual meal, the apartment comes with a lounge and dining area, and a separate bedroom. The stylish decor features a palette of neutral and natural earth tones, with luxury furnishings and artworks, polished wooden floors, and splashes of colour from the floor rugs to bed cushions. The apartment also has a super comfortable couch and queen bed, and two smart TVs; one in the living area, and one in the bedroom. There’s also a fully equipped kitchen, which means you can enjoy lazy nights in your apartment after a busy day on the beach or exploring, and cook in or enjoy takeaway with all the comforts of home.
