Skin Friendly Sunscreen

Parts of Australia have enjoyed an early blast of summer recently, making it the perfect opportunity to crack open a new sunscreen. For me, sunbathing is long since a thing of the past, due to a skin cancer, but it’s also a well known fact that while the sun’s rays will add a bit of a glow to the skin, which makes many of us feel good, it’s also responsible for premature ageing. I’m always interested to see what’s new on the market each year, and on my list to check out this spring was a couple of boutique products from Feel Good Inc. The idea for the brand emerged on a joint surfing holiday, a with a couple of budding entrepreneurs on the hunt for a sunscreen to match their active lifestyles. Also on their hit list was a quality sunscreen which would minimise toxins, including oxybenzone, parabens and preservatives, making it good for the skin as well as protective, and containing the least amount of ingredients. The end result was Feel Good Inc., a boutique range of sunscreens which have been tried and tested to withstand the harshest environment, offer a maximum rating of SPF 50+, and which are also 100% Australian made. They are also up to 4 hours water resistant, so great for travellers and anyone who enjoys the great outdoors.

Two options in the range include the Signature Sunscreen Lotion SPF50+ (rrp $24.95, 200mL) and Sensitive Sunscreen Lotion SPF50+ (rrp $27.95, 200 mL), both of which I was able to road test across a hot weekend recently on the Gold Coast. Both formulas are lovely; they’re a non-greasy, the Signature Sunscreen with a pleasant, light fragrance, and the Sensitive variety fragrance free making it ideal for the most sensitive of skins including babies and children. The sunscreens glide onto the skin easily without leaving a sticky or greasy residue, and when applied correctly they protect the skin while also leaving it feeling soft and smooth. All you have to do is apply around 20 minutes before you go out in the sun, and remember to reapply generously after swimming, towelling, excessive sweating such as a workout or a hike, or up to four hours from the first application. A hike, a swim and a couple of applications kept my skin in good shape, so if your sunscreen is due an revamp, these are well worth adding to your bathroom cabinet (available from https://www.wearefeelgoodinc.com.au/)
