Road Test

When it comes to cleansing your skin, everyone knows the top two rules. One is that you should use a cleanser which suits your skin type, and the other is that you should never go to bed without cleansing your skin, and particularly without removing makeup. And you can add to the list a few more: washing your face in the shower is regarded as a beauty sin by many dermatologists and skin experts because the water is often way too hot; and not washing your hands before you wash your face is also highly risky because of germs, even more so in this era of COVID-19. That’s where a facial cleansing device can save the day; they not only remove makeup, sweat and impurities while offering light exfoliation, but they can also be more sanitary. And the good news for anyone with skin sensitivity or problems such as rosacea, is that there are options out there which will work for you. One of these is the fabulous new PeppyCo Cleansing Egg. Over the years I’ve tried (and loved) several facial cleansing devices, but this new PeppyCo product piqued my curiosity and was hugely attractive for a number of reasons. Primarily, it not only promises to deeply cleanse the skin but also boost blood circulation to your skin, especially in wrinkle prone areas, which can help to increase the production of collagen and elastin and make the skin appear more firm and elastic. That makes it an "anti-ageing egg" of sorts which ticks a big box. But there are other terrific perks, some of which are especially good for travellers, which include that the PeppyCo Cleansing Egg offers wireless charging with up to 300 uses with a single charge via its own mini dock, it’s completely waterproof, and it doesn’t use any consumables, so you won’t need to pack spare batteries or a replacement brush head for this cleansing device. This cute, lilac coloured face egg is made of smooth silicone and has super-soft bristles which deeply cleanse your skin using sonic vibration, without causing any irritation whatsoever even for anyone with sensitivity like me. The bristles massage and penetrate your pores to remove any impurities including dirt, makeup residue and excess oil, while also gently sloughing off dead skin cells. Using the Cleansing Egg is easy, and you can use it morning or night, or both. Simply wet the egg and turn it on, apply your favourite cleanser to your face or directly to the egg, choose a speed to suit, and using circular motions gently move the brush across your skin for up to a minute. To finish off rinse your face to remove the cleanser and pat dry, then wash and dry the egg. I loved the PeppyCo Cleansing Egg from first use, and practicalities aside - it gives your skin a great cleanse - it's also lovely to use.

Insider Tips

  • If you’re wearing a lot of makeup, for best results remove it before you cleanse with the face egg.
  • The dock has a USB connection, and when the light on it turns off the egg is fully charged. PeppyCo recommends you use all the charge up before recharging.
  • I attached the dock to my computer for charging, then stored the egg in the dock on the vanity top to keep things neat.
