The Product: Logitech C922 Pro-Stream Webcam.

Best For: Serious Video Streamers.

Three Things We Loved: The slick design, the compact size, the removable tripod.

Road Test:

A growing number of YouTubers and Twitch streamers are popping up each day, and with its new C922 Pro Stream webcam Logitech is aiming to have them covered. If you want to live stream when travelling, features ideal for being on the road include that it is compact in size, with an all-black casing and microphones that flank both sides of the 1080p lens, and a rear-mounted arm which secures the camera onto your laptop lid if you’re on the move. Unlike its predecessor, however, this webcam comes with its own detachable tripod, a rugged piece of kit complete with a 360-degree swivel mount, and telescopic legs which extend to around 18cms. As for performance, the C922 is capable of capturing 30 frames per second in 1080p, or 60 frames per second in 720p, while also applying low light correction, meaning the video will automatically adjust to the available light or stabilise the light if it’s inconsistent.

Included with the C922 is an XSplit licence code if you’re also planning to use it for gaming or live broadcasting as well. The webcam is a plug-and-play device so there’s no software included, however, there is optional software that can be downloaded from Logitech to change settings and alter backgrounds. There’s also not much in the way of installation for the C922 which is a plus; to use it, just connect it to a USB port on your computer, fire up any software needed, choose the C922 as your video and audio source, and you’re good to go. Once you’re connected you can use a variety of applications including video calls with applications such as Skype and FaceTime, which is handy while travelling, also you can take photos using Apple Quicktime or Microsoft Camera, and stream your holiday experiences live using Xsplit. The C922 Pro Stream is compatible with Windows 7 and up, Mac OS X 10.9 and up, Chrome OS, and Android 5.0 and up.

The Verdict:

The C922 is not just a good-looking gadget; it is compact, which makes it ideal for travellers, it has multiple uses from making video calls to live streaming, and it’s easy to use. If you’re planning extended travel and want document what you see and do, it’s well worth adding to your on-the-road technology kit.

We loved this webcam so much that have one to give away in blue to a lucky winner in one of our latest holiday competitions. For more information or to enter, head over to the competition page.
