Road Test

Just as you are born with the predisposition for having thick or curly hair, being tall, or having freckles, you are also born with oily skin. And although you can't change any of these genetic traits, when it comes to oily skin you can do a number of things to control it, with using the right skin care being a key one. Although acne may not be an issue, women with oily skin often find they battle blemishes and breakouts throughout their lives until menopause, when the production of sebum slows down and hormone levels decline. And besides your genes there are many factors which play a key role in how oily your skin is on a day-to-day basis - including some which are travel related. Stress can spike a rise in the stress hormone, cortisol, and cause an increase in the skin’s oil production, along with not drinking enough water, and wearing the wrong sunscreen. Then there’s the weather. If you wonder why your skin feels more greasy in the summer and more dry in the winter, the answer is that hot, humid and rainy weather also increases oil production. Tea tree oil is a longstanding remedy which can help oily skin and treat blemishes, boasting a lineup of anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and oil control properties. The HOLA Tea Tree range uses Australian harvested oil in its formulas, offering a unique combination of increased hydration and moisture balance to the skin, while dissolving blemish causing impurities. All this without drying out the skin, which is a common problem with many oily skin products. The three products I was test to test all passed with flying colours. My top pick for travellers is the Conditioning Oil which not only can help to spot treat blemishes which may occur, cut can also help to prevent and ingrown hairs from shaving (your partner will love it!). Next is the Balancing Cleanser, which produces rich, foamy bubbles ideal for removing impurities from the skin after a long day at the beach, including heavier sunscreens and even makeup, and leaves the skin surprising soft and supple. Finally the Oil Control Lotion is a delight; a fresh smelling, oil free lotion enriched with tea tree oil, which controls oil, balances the skins moisture level, and leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth. Blemishes don't have to spoil your next holiday, just take control.

Insider Tips

  • The Conditioning Oil can also be used in an emergency as a natural hand sanitiser on your travels, and it can help to kill germs responsible for colds, flu and other illness.
  • The oil can also be used to treat minor wounds and scrapes.

    Tea Tree Rocks

Tea tree oil is well known for healing properties but it is drying if you use it straight. This beauty range sounds like a good idea as it heals without drying. Could work for teenaged daughters and sons too!

    Acne At 40

Posted by Lola on 15th Jan 2019

I got acne when I turned 40, completely out of the blue. Hormones, the doc said. It always gets worse when I travel too especially to hot climates (Im from Victoria). All the products out there are aimed at teens and very drying, they don't deal with ageing skin at all! Thanks for sharing this article I will definitely try.
