Using hand sanitiser has become a part of daily life in 2020, but not all products are equal as we have discovered, and some are much nicer to use than others. This new hand sanitiser from ECOYA ticks all the right boxes and more.

  • What Is It: A fragranced hand sanitiser.
  • Why buy: It sanitises, it smells lovely, it’s kinder to skin.
  • The Details: ECOYA Fragranced Hand Sanitiser costs rrp $29.95 for $450mls, and it comes in a range of scents. Available from www.ecoya.com.au, and stockists including Myer, David Jones, and various pharmacies.

Road Test

As Covid-19 has spread across the world, people have been turning to alcohol-based hand rubs, or hand sanitisers, to try and minimise the risk of infection and spreading the illness. This lead to unprecedented demand for these products, with many Australian supermarkets and chemists temporarily running low on stock or running out of them altogether at the beginning of the pandemic. The situation inspired a number of beauty and health companies to develop their own hand sanitiser, and the luxury beauty brand, ECOYA, is one. It has added a range of Fragranced Hand Sanitisers to its lineup of body care and lifestyle products, which not only smell delicious but effectively do the job they’re supposed to. The hand sanitiser shortage put the spotlight on these products, product ingredients and how they work, revealing that not all hand sanitisers are the same. The effectiveness of an alcohol-based hand sanitiser depends on the amount of alcohol in the formulation; it needs to be least 60 per cent. ECOYA Fragranced Hand Sanitiser contains 70 per cent alcohol, along with aloe vera extract to make it gentle on your skin, and glycerine which softens and moisturises. The new range comes in a variety of tropical and earthy fragrances. I was sent Juniper and Mint to road test, which has a delightfully green-floral fragrance thanks to fresh basil, matured blackberry and mint. The sanitiser not only smells lovely but it leaves your hands feeling fresh and quite soft; the bottle is also super stylish, making a necessary and practical addition to your home or office space also look good. For travellers, the good news is that Fragranced Hand Sanitiser comes in handy 40mls tubes (rrp $9.95) which are ideal to slip into your handbag, work bag or travel bag, and there’s a 65mls Fragranced Sanitiser Spray also available (rrp $14.95) which I will review separately.

Beauty In Travel Loves

  • The hand sanitiser smells lovely and non chemical.
  • It contains 70 per cent alcohol and kills 99.9 per cent of bacteria making it effective.
  • The aloe vera used in the formula is kind to skin.
  • It comes in a stylish pump bottle.
  • The product isn’t tested on animals.

Insider Tips

  • Hand sanitiser needs to be applied correctly for it to kill germs effectively. Make sure you apply enough to cover the surfaces of both hands and all fingers, and wait until they are completely dry.
  • To keep the skin of your hands additionally soft and in tip top shape, use a hand cream regularly, and consider a gentle exfoliation of your hands and applying a hand mask every week.
