On Location

It definitely feels like summer in this little slice of heaven, and that means time for some pool side lounging and a freshly squeezed juice before my spa treatment. The combination of watermelon and mint is the epitome of summer, it’s delicious, healthy, light, refreshing and it’s a pretty pink. What more can you want! Checking in at Health Republic a little early I store away my belongings before I step in to the rejuvenating herbal steam room to sweat away the toxins and when you have had enough - 15 minutes in here feels like 30 - I step outside to take a breather and the sweet staff are on hand to serve a fresh brewed ginger tea in the sitting area outside. Perfectly positioned offering scenic views overlooking the newly built lavish yoga sala, one of the largest on Samui Island with sublime Lamai beach as the backdrop, puts me into a state of bliss.

As I enter Health Republic for my massage, walking through a pretty courtyard I step across a cobbled path over the top of a water pond filled with emerald coloured floating lilies and plants. Surrounded by a large water feature, artfully carved Thai Buddha statues and brightly coloured Thai silk cushions in turquoise and lavender decorate the lounges in this serene sanctuary. My therapist leads me into the deluxe treatment room, complete with a full size spa bath alongside floor to ceiling windows with views of tropical ferns and bamboo plants evoke a sense of nature and tranquillity. Relaxing on the massage table my body and mind completely letting go to the beautiful aroma of orange and jasmine oils as the therapist gently fuses traditional Asian Thai massage with ancient Chinese reflexology techniques, creating a new age approach to harness complete wellbeing and to restore and re-balance my body. After a few days on this cleanse program the classic detox symptoms have passed and my health feels like it’s finally beginning to flourish again. I gaze off into the tropical landscape as I feel worlds away from the busy city life I am used to.
