The Space

The Oberoi Bali is an iconic luxury property set within fifteen acres of mature tropical gardens, its traditionally inspired villas and lanai rooms arranged in clusters and enclosed in walled courtyards to ensure total privacy. An expansive swimming pool dominates the grounds and is surrounded by brightly tasselled umbrellas that overlook a magnificent wide stretch of beach. Here one can gaze at the crashing waves from the comfort of a sun bed that comes equipped with sunscreen, cold water and frangipani scented facial mist. The nearby restaurant, bar and villas are housed under traditional Balinese thatched roofs and if you’re feeling lazy, porters with golf carts will happily provide a ride to wherever you’re heading be it the spa or business centre. Originally built in 1972 as an exclusive private club on the site of an ancient Balinese village, The Oberoi’s highly trained staff, most of whom are Indonesian, offer an unparalleled level of attentive, personalised and warm service.

Where We Stayed

Our home for two nights was a Luxury Lanai Room with floor-to-ceiling windows that flooded the room with natural light. The room was spacious, and featured a Hollywood twin king-size bed, a smart, furnished desk and a comfortable living area. The private terrace outside was perfect to sit and relax or enjoy 24-hour room service in absolute privacy. The traditionally thatched roof is crowned with intricate wooden carvings, furnished with warm, polished teak wood and upholstered in subtle, natural fabrics. The bathroom is tiled in soft, grey, Indonesian marble and features an exquisite, sunken marble bathtub, with a handheld shower and views across a sun-dappled private garden. It comes with an assortment of luxurious bath scrubs, soaps and moisturisers. There’s also anti-mosquito spray, a day bag for the pool or beach and fresh fruit daily on hand.
