Located in Midtown Manhattan, and only a short walk from a cluster of key New York attractions, it’s hard not to feel a part of the romance of the Big Apple when staying at this oh-so hip, luxury hotel.

  • Location: Midtown Manhattan, New York.
  • Accommodations: There are plenty of styles available, from studios to suites, all with impressive living rooms and entertainment spaces. Space, being a common restraint in New York City hotels, is not an issue here, with all rooms greater than 28 square meters in size. Rooms are furnished in modern contemporary decor, and include flat screen TVs, high-speed internet access, and a generous work space with an ergonomic desk chair. Suites also feature a separate living room with a sofa bed ideal for families or groups of friends, a dining area, and a kitchenette in the larger suites. And there are classic New York City views; guests can choose from staying in a room facing Central Park or the Manhattan skyline.
  • Dining options: The property has a wide ranger of eateries. Breakfast is available at Norma’s, an American diner located in the lobby, where meals are hearty and served in typical New York portions; after all, this is the city where everything is bigger. Coffee and tea are served during the day at Knave, a gothic style walkway coffee shop which becomes a bar in the evenings. Lunch and dinner are available at Indian Accent, a high-end Indian restaurant or, at burger joint.
  • What else is there: There is a gym, a barber shop, a wellness spa and a top floor swimming pool, with wall to wall glass offering views.
  • What’s nearby: Parker New York has an enviable location and is close to key attractions including the famous Fifth Ave shopping area, the Empire State Building and the Museum of Modern Art. Everything else is accessible by subway.
  • Why go: It has a great location, and some of the best views of Central Park - all very romantic.

The Space

Formerly known as the Le Parker Meridien, the hotel (along with a sister hotel in Palm Springs) left Starwood in January 2018 to become simply, the Parker New York. While close to major tourist attractions, and only five minutes on foot from the subway, it still feels a world away from the touristy Times Square. It combines a mixture of old grandeur and new city, with majestic marble arches adorning the high ceiling lobby, and a dash of contemporary artwork over the reception desk. The magic of this hotel is its ability to take the best of New York – the beautiful city views, hidden burger joints and old school barbers - to provide an oasis that makes you feel part of one of the most exciting cities in the world without being overwhelmed. And the views are second to none.

Where We Stayed

Our room for the night was a studio on the 41st floor, which was extremely spacious. The living and study area included a sofa, coffee table, a large wood panelled desk and ergonomic study chair. Decorated in a modern contemporary style, the sleeping area had a king size bed and flat screen TV. The bathroom was bright with marble flooring and features a bathtub/shower combo. Also in the room was a walk-in wardrobe, with ample space to hang clothes and coats, an in-room safe and extra space for luggage or shopping. The real draw card, however, was the breath-taking views of Central Park, visible from both the window in the sleeping area and the large windows facing the study desk. It’s hard to escape or forget where you are when waking up here.
