Parfums de Voyage - Hong Kong, is a new fragrance which has been available to purchase onboard selected flights since late last year. A fragrance launched by an airline, you may ask? Well, it will likely surprise you to know that Cathay Pacific isn’t the first to make a foray into the world of scent. In 2015 Delta Airlines launched Calm, designed to procure a calming effect on flights, and back in 2013 Turkish Airlines created TK1933 to further enhance its brand, as well as bring a sense of relaxation and happiness to the wearer. Cathay Pacific is going a tad further with the launch of this lovely oriental spicy scent, however. The fragrance is not only aimed at both men and women, but it’s also designed to take you on a “return journey to Hong Kong through scent”. Smell is one of the most powerful of the senses, especially where triggering memories is concerned. Parfums de Voyage – Hong Kong has a fresh, clean top note inspired by the greenery and flora of the island drying down to a warm, peppery base note that’s evocative of exotic spices and smoky incense. Some of the distinct fragrance notes include oakmoss and bamboo from the misty heights of Victoria Peak, green tea found in the city’s crowded teahouses, jasmine, orchids and white florals from the Kowloon flower markets, and cinnamon, sichuan pepper, and cloves procured from the hidden spice stores of Wan Chai.
