We've already put the Motorola moto g6 plus smartphone to the test along with its predecessor, and slightly less expensive, moto g6 smartphone and one of the features on the g6 plus which warrants attention on its own is the Smart Camera System which really makes this an exceptional piece of tech for the price.

Basically the moto g6 plus is a step up from the g6 in every department with a better screen and a superior camera which is a really good option for travellers as it can fit nicely in a pocket and it produces high quality images and videos in a handset that is easy to use.

The camera system on the moto g6 plus also has a lot of really cool features that provide creativity and will really help improve the quality of your photos on the road. It also eliminates the need to download editing apps, as they are already built into the system.

The system itself is easy to operate and it has a primary lens with a reasonably wide aperture of f/1.7, which means you can easily get macro photos with a nice shallow depth of field.

It features a 12 megapixel and 5 megapixel outwards facing dual smart camera, which is pretty amazing as it can recognise landmarks, and it also has a 16 megapixel front facing camera for clear selfies and video chat.

The selfie camera works really well and produces well-balanced exposures that have plenty of detail to them and there's a front-facing flash as well which can be useful for indoor and some low light situations.

The moto g6 plus also has dual-pixel autofocus, which means it can focus on the main subject really quickly and accurately and a faster processor means it can shoot video in 4K at 30 frames per second.

Some of the other excellent features of the camera include super responsive shutter photos (see below), you can blur foregrounds and backgrounds, create black and white backgrounds to highlight something colourful, add a pop art effect by choosing a single colour to keep and making the rest of the photo black & white, shoot in panorama and shoot video in time lapse and slow-mo.

These improvements have combined to make a great camera even better, and it performs really well in most conditions, including shooting into bright sunlight as you can see from this photo below.

And even in low light, there's been a marked improvement in the processor for the g6 plus and the images remain packed with detail and bursting with realistic, vibrant colours. The camera’s HDR is incredibly good, too, able to dig out an astonishing degree of detail in darker and lighter areas without lending an unnatural look to your photographs.

This photo below from the Zombie Walk at Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast were taken on a telephoto extension in low light just after sunset.

Like the actual g6 plus smartphone itself, the Smart Camera System, is a marked improvement on previous versions which makes it one of the best of its kind in the budget to mid-range market and is one of the reasons Motorola is giving the iPhone a real run for its money.

We have a great travel competition where you could win a moto g6 plus and a moto g6, in a prize pack with a value of $1,078.

This looks like a great phone if you're planning to change or upgrade, which I am later this year. I have always used Samsung but will definitely consider this phone. The photos you took are great (love the zombie LOL) and the tips are really useful. Thanks for sharing, just might enter the comp too!
