Road Test

Call it genes or good health, but I'm fortunate that having thick, lustrous hair was never a problem for me - until I turned 40. Over the past few years I have noticed that while my hair still looks healthy and shiny, it doesn’t quite have the volume it once did. And if you’re one of the one in five Australian women who’s concerned about their hair thinning, or becoming more brittle, the leading hair care brand, John Frieda, has a complete solution. It’s new Luxurious Volume Core Restore range, which launched in April, comprises a shampoo, conditioner and volumizer designed to strengthen and boost the volume of your hair. Among the key features of the range are volume polymer in the shampoo for added volume, and a unique, clear gel formula conditioner which is purposely free of heavy ingredients so that it won’t weigh down your hair. Wrapping things up is the volumizer which penetrates wet hair and forms temporary bonds between the hairs natural protein chains to minimise breakages, while adding strength for a longer lasting style. The big question is, however, do you notice a difference when using all three? I put them to the test at the same time, and here’s what I discovered. For one, the shampoo definitely leaves your hair looking fuller and more bouncy, even after one use. Also, I usually don’t apply conditioner to my roots as it makes them limp, and greasy more quickly, but that’s not the case with this one; in fact, it left my hair feeling clean while also super soft. As for the volumizer, applied to wet hair before styling, it definitely helped my hair stay in shape and look fuller for longer, even when living in the humid climate of southeast Queensland. Second time around using all three products things got even better, and what’s not to love about that?
