Where Is It? Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Hotel is located at Terminal 3, a 6-10 minute walk from Terminal 2 via a covered mezzanine link bridge or via Skytrain to Terminal 3.

Why Go: It’s a luxury resort hotel located conveniently for transit passengers or guests staying in Singapore for a longer stopover.

Best For: Business travellers and stylish couples.

Three Things I Loved: Convenient location, the unique décor, the resort style pool.

The Ultimate Factor: Five star style and modern luxury in close proximity to Singapore’s airport.

Overview:

Renowned for innovation and environmental considerations, the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Hotel was designed by Singapore based Architects WOHA, whose intent was to create a “sensual” time out for the weary traveller. With a contemporary Asian theme, the Hotel features open corridors, courtyards and gardens to create a tropical ambience. Voted the World Best Airport Hotel by Skytrax Travellers in March 2015 you simply can’t beat the Hotel’s location. Step off the plane in Singapore airport, grab your bags from the baggage carousel and after an easy 15 minute stroll through the terminal you’ll be checking in at the Hotel’s reception.

The Accommodation:

Opening in May 2008, this luxury Hotel has 327 sound proofed rooms and 27 suites, with plans to expand in 2016 adding 243 rooms. The hotel offers day rooms where check in is from 11am – 7pm at half the regular room rate. For enthusiastic aviation plane watchers, it’s possible to request a runway view room – with double glazing to ensure a good night’s sleep. At the guest room level, the hotel transforms into a resort with a series of courtyards framed by blocks of rooms. The rooms closest to the large swimming pool and deck are connected by a series of walkways edged by water. The second courtyard is a lush tropical garden filled with rainforest trees.

Where I Stayed:

My room for the night was a King Bed Deluxe Club Room with direct pool access. Guests need to request these rooms as they are only assigned upon availability. My spacious room lead into an open space with wardrobe, plush bathrobes and a long bench useful for resting bags. In the corner was a long work desk, with a docking station and a pull out drawer hiding a generous sized hotel safe. The large bathroom had free standing bath, a rain shower and The White Company, London amenities. The King size bed was parallel to the bathroom. The room rate included unlimited free wifi, tea and coffee making facilities, and flatscreen LCD TV with cable network. A large door which unlocked gave me direct access to the pool. Breakfast was also included in my room, and because I was staying in Club Level I had access to the club lounge to enjoy it. It's a convenient 30 second stroll from my room.

What Else Is There:

The hotel features a 24-hour fitness centre, with a 30-metre outdoor swimming pool complete with ‘mini-islands’ to provide hideaways for privacy and relaxation. Four spa treatment rooms cater to the long-distance traveller, with jet-lag reflexology a feature of the spa menu. Club guests have access to the Club Lounge where drinks and nibbles are available between 5.30pm – 7.30pm. The two dining options include fine dining at the Imperial Treasure with Cantonese cuisine, or AZUR Restaurant offering an a la carte menu and its chefs presenting their cooking expertise at live stations. If breakfast is included it will be at Azur unless you have club access, which gives the additional choice of the Club Lounge, offering a more intimate dining experience. Unwind in Bar ’75 - a casual sports bar, while the Lobby Lounge enjoys both indoor and outdoor alfresco seating areas offering high tea, light refreshments and drinks. The hotel offers a VIP "meet and greet" service where guests can be collected from the arrival hall for a stress free check in.

The Verdict:

Singapore’s Changi Airport is a world aviation hub. If you are one of the 54.1 million passengers passing through the airport, the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Hotel offers luxury accommodation with a resort twist. With its unique design and amenities this is the perfect place to relax and refresh in readiness for your next journey.  Making the easy trip back to Terminal 2 the following morning to continue my travel plans, I felt as if I’d escaped to a tropical oasis.
