Road Test

Cannabis-derived ingredients have been under the spotlight across the globe in recent years for a variety of reasons, including an impressive lineup of purported health benefits. In Australia in particular, hemp seed oil has been really making a splash in skincare. It’s derived from the seeds of the hemp plant, and it boasts a high concentration of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids offering significant hydrating and anti-inflammatory benefits for the skin. And there are other perks. Hemp seed oil is non-comedogenic, so it can be used topically on acne-prone or naturally oily skin, and the linoleic acid and oleic acids found in hemp oil can’t be produced by the body, but they can play a crucial role in skin health and anti ageing making your wrinkles less obvious.

Andalou Naturals has recently launched its new CannaCell® Range to the market, containing organic hemp seed oil and Andalou’s special ingredient, PhytoCellTec® Hemp Stem Cells. The range includes five products; Beauty Oil, Happy Day Cream, Dreamy Night Cream, Pressed Serum and Glow Mask. I’m a huge fan of beauty oils, and the Beauty Oil from the CannaCell® range is one of my new favourites for a variety of reasons. It comes in a handy glass pump bottle and is virtually odourless, and literally melts into the skin within minutes of applying, leaving it soft and smooth; simply apply a few drops to your skin and massage in gently. And thanks to a complex of proteins, minerals and vitamins, and with a ratio of 3:1 Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, this delicious oil fights oxidative damage and pollution, while also restoring the skin’s moisture barrier.

If you’re looking for a super light day cream, Happy Day Cream’s formula is infused with hemp stem cells and hemp seed oil which is nourishing as well as protective, while the Dreamy Night cream is a little richer and helps to restore your skin while you sleep. Both creams are odourless, and melt into the skin quickly leaving it soft and smooth. Two other essential products to add to your bathroom cabinet include Pressed serum, which is especially great for travellers. It’s a rich, nourishing balm which leaves your skin restored and glowing, and can be used on dry patches anywhere on the face or body. Just warm a little with your fingertips and apply; it transforms into velvety serum and melts into the skin. Finally Glow Mask is a lovely and effective exfoliating botanical enzyme jelly mask which gently dissolves dead skin cells from the surface of your skin, leaving it glowing. To use, all you do is apply evenly to dry, clean skin, leave for 10-20 minutes, then rinse off with warm water.
