Hotel Review: Pan Pacific Perth, Australia

By:

Where Is It: A five-minute walk from the Swan River and Elizabeth Quay in Perth.

Why Go: It’s close to the city, the sights, and has fantastic views.

Best For: Couples looking for a relaxing and romantic city break.

Three Things We Loved: The spacious room, the proximity to Elizabeth Quay, the lounge.

The Ultimate Factor: The views across the Swan River.

Overview:

Recently renovated, the Pan Pacific Perth is situated at the south end of the city centre – with free CAT buses regularly running in and out of the main shopping district. The recently launched Elizabeth Quay is a stone’s through away, where you also catch the ferry to South Perth Foreshore. Kings Park is a ten-minute Uber ride, making the Pan the spot for visitors to the city that want to explore without having to hire a car. The new upgrades to the lobby area are stunning, and make for a great, and very luxurious, start to your stay.

The Accommodation

The Pan Pacific has 486 guest rooms comprising 132 refurbished Premier Rooms and Suites, and 96 Pacific Club Rooms which all provide complimentary Wi-Fi.  They also offer deluxe rooms with plush top beds, executive rooms with oversized bathrooms, and Premier rooms, which have recently been refurbished in a modern, sleek minimalist style, are situated on the top floors of the hotel. The Pacific Club Suites feature a separate living area and deep bathtub, while the Club rooms are modelled along the same lines, minus the separate living area.

Where We Stayed

We stayed in a Pacific Club suite, which is ideal for couples looking for a romantic getaway; it is decorated in muted and relaxing palettes, with a giant comfy bed dressed in luxe bedding. There’s also a pillow menu on offer for those with specific tastes, although the standard option is the perfect combo of supportive, yet sink-into-the-bed soft. Club rooms also feature large screen TVs, and luxury granite bathrooms, with separate soaking tubs and showers. These rooms also offer access to the Club Lounge, featuring complimentary daily breakfast, pre-dinner drinks and canapés, all-day refreshments and business facilities. While there, we enjoyed pre-dinner drinks, with a full range of wines and beers on offer, and dim sum alongside the cheese and cracker classics. In the morning, we strolled down to the lounge for a full breakfast, and slipped in later in the day for a coffee to take with us on our morning wander around the local area.

What Else Is There

We spent plenty of time by the outdoor swimming pool, which boasts plenty of chaise lounges and fluffy towels. It’s well situated next to the Lobby Lounge, which offers cocktails created by skilled mixologists, and a wide variety of Australian and international beer on tap, as well as a decent tapas selection. The hotel’s destination restaurant is Montereys, which many non-hotel guests visit for the seasonal, and award winning, buffet. The crowd pulling buffet offers fresh Australian seafood, salads, antipasto, homemade soups, traditional roast carvery, hot dishes inspired by Pan Pacific's Asian heritage and a live cooking station. Those with a sweet tooth will love the dessert menu; featuring homemade ice-cream, sorbet, petite cakes, warm puddings, cookies, madelines, macarons, and meringues. Finally, there’s Origins, which has made a name for itself in Perth for its weekend sparkling high teas; it features tiny treats served on beautiful three tiered stands, organic tea, espresso coffee, and flowing sparkling wine. The hotel also offers a basic gym for those wanting to work-out, and a relaxing spa, where you can book a facial or massage to enhance your stay.

The Verdict:

There’s plenty to do if you’re looking for some time out to relax and unwind, or if you want to get to know Perth City, as you’re only a free CAT ride or easy stroll into nearby Elizabeth Quay, or the shopping and dining district. The recent refurbishments have made an already well run 5-star resort into a refreshed and even more luxe hotel stay.
